About the PSEO program

If you are looking for a faith-centered college experience in the middle of a major city, North Central University offers PSEO from its campus in downtown Minneapolis. NCU is a private Christian university, and its dual enrollment students take real university courses on a compact urban campus — a very different environment from a suburban community college.

Admission is friendlier than you might expect from a private school. North Central PSEO is test-optional with a 2.70 minimum GPA, which puts it within reach of students who would not clear the bar at many private colleges. Application windows close June 1 (fall) and December 1 (spring), and completed NOSR forms go to the admissions office by email.

The trade-off to weigh: as a private university, NCU offers no CTE coursework, so PSEO here is for juniors and seniors only, and the campus experience comes with NCU's Christian community and chapel culture. For students who want that environment while earning free college classes, it is a distinctive option in the Twin Cities.

Why choose North Central University for PSEO

A low bar for a private university

A 2.70 minimum GPA and test-optional admission make NCU one of the more accessible private-college PSEO programs in Minnesota.

Downtown Minneapolis location

The Elliot Park campus puts students in the heart of the city, close to internships, churches, arts venues, and transit lines.

Christian university community

Students who want their college coursework in an intentionally faith-based setting get exactly that, with small classes and a tight-knit campus.

A named admissions contact for PSEO

NCU lists a specific admissions counselor for PSEO students, so applicants get a real person guiding the process rather than a form portal.

Programs & courses

  • General education courses

Writing, communication, and humanities coursework forms the core of most PSEO schedules and transfers as standard university credit.

  • Bible and theology coursework

As a Christian university, NCU weaves biblical studies into its curriculum — a draw for students planning ministry-related or faith-informed paths.

  • Music and worship arts exposure

NCU is well known for its music and worship programs, and PSEO students interested in those fields can explore introductory coursework in a serious environment.

  • Business and leadership basics

Introductory business courses give students a way to test a common major while banking transferable credits.

Campus & getting there

North Central's campus occupies several blocks of the Elliot Park neighborhood in downtown Minneapolis, a short walk from U.S. Bank Stadium and the light rail. For PSEO students, that means the campus is reachable by Metro Transit from across Minneapolis, Saint Paul, and the first-ring suburbs — no car required. NCU's PSEO program is campus-based, so plan for in-person classes; students pair a morning or afternoon block at NCU with the rest of their day at high school.

Will my credits transfer?

NCU credits are private university credits, and general education courses like writing, communication, and psychology transfer widely to both public and private colleges. Because NCU is not part of the Minnesota State system, its courses are not automatically mapped to MNTC goal areas — receiving colleges evaluate them course by course. If you expect to finish your degree at a Minnesota State school or the U of M, run your planned NCU courses past that school's transfer office first; if you might stay at NCU for your bachelor's, everything you take applies directly.

North Central University PSEO FAQ

NCU's PSEO page lists a 2.70 minimum GPA, and admission is test-optional — no ACT or SAT required. That combination makes NCU one of the easier private universities in Minnesota to qualify for through PSEO.
