About the PSEO program

One of Minnesota's largest two-year colleges sits in White Bear Lake, and it takes dual enrollment seriously. Century College combines a comprehensive community college and a technical college on one campus, which means PSEO students can pull from an unusually wide catalog: transfer-ready gen eds on one side, hands-on career and technical courses on the other, all tuition-free.

A rule many east metro students never hear about: at Century, juniors and seniors can take one career and technical education course regardless of GPA or class rank. Even if you miss the standard eligibility bars, that single CTE course is still on the table. For general admission, juniors need a 3.0 GPA, top-third class rank, or a 70th percentile test score; seniors need a 2.5, top half, or the 50th percentile, and there is an appeal process built on a counselor or teacher recommendation letter.

Applying is a two-step process: complete the online general application, then submit your documents through Century's PSEO Application Materials Submission eForm rather than by email. Fall applications close July 1 and spring closes December 1, so map your NOSR signatures backward from those dates.

Why choose Century College for PSEO

One CTE course, no GPA required

Juniors and seniors can enroll in a single career and technical education course regardless of GPA or rank, an entry point that keeps PSEO open to students the standard cutoffs would exclude.

Two colleges' worth of catalog

Century houses both liberal arts and technical divisions on one campus, so you can pair Composition with a trades or health sciences course in the same semester without juggling two schools.

An appeal path if you fall short

Students below the eligibility marks can appeal with a recommendation letter from a high school counselor or teacher, giving context a GPA cannot.

East metro convenience plus online

The White Bear Lake campus is minutes from 694 and 35E, and a deep online schedule serves students who cannot fit a commute between high school classes.

Programs & courses

  • Minnesota Transfer Curriculum general education

Writing, communication, sciences, and social sciences that build toward the 40-credit MNTC core and transfer across Minnesota's public colleges and universities.

  • Career and technical education courses

Century's technical division offers the CTE options that sophomores use to enter PSEO and that juniors and seniors can take one of regardless of GPA.

  • Health sciences coursework

Introductory health-field courses at a college known for its health programs, a practical preview for students weighing nursing and allied health careers.

  • Associate of Arts track

Full-time PSEO students can sequence MNTC goal areas toward an AA degree, finishing high school with two years of college banked.

  • Online sections

A broad online schedule lets students across the metro and beyond take Century courses without daily trips to White Bear Lake.

Campus & getting there

Century College straddles both sides of Century Avenue in White Bear Lake, just off Interstate 694 at the northeast corner of the metro. Students from White Bear Lake, Mahtomedi, North St. Paul-Maplewood-Oakdale, Stillwater, Roseville, and St. Paul's east side districts are all within a short drive, and Metro Transit routes serve the area. Online courses extend Century PSEO to students far outside the east metro.

Will my credits transfer?

As a Minnesota State college, Century's general education courses carry Minnesota Transfer Curriculum credit recognized throughout Minnesota State and at the University of Minnesota, and completing the full MNTC or an AA satisfies lower-division gen eds at the state's public universities wholesale. Transfer Pathway degrees connect specific majors to guaranteed junior standing at Minnesota State universities. Technical course credit transfers into related applied programs rather than as general credit, so students mixing CTE and transfer courses should map both tracks with an advisor.

Century College PSEO FAQ

Three routes work for juniors: a 3.0 GPA, a class rank inside the top 33 percent, or a nationally standardized test score at or above the 70th percentile. For seniors it's a 2.5 GPA, a rank in the top 50 percent, or a score at the 50th percentile. Sophomores take the CTE route with a passing 8th grade reading MCA of 850 or higher, and students below the marks can appeal with a recommendation letter.
